Sandpit
You are shaken awake by your parents, faces shivering with fear and the sheer icy breeze from goodness knows where. You don’t know why, or how, but you can sense danger. A gloved hand covers over your gaping mouth as you catch the tiniest glimpse of a sign, reading ‘Turn Back…’. You can’t remember the last time you saw a happy face in this desolate world, now almost rid of humans. They call it ‘extermination’, ‘protecting the others’.
As your brain begins to become conscious once again, you open your eyes, quivering. Despite their efforts, it starts trickling back, like poison. It’s only then, that you see the yellowing, stained glass….
