The primary causes of the Civil War were Dred Scott, the abolitionist movement, and the Missouri Compromise. Dred Scott was one of the reasons for the Civil War because he sued for his freedom but ended up being declined by the Supreme Court because he’s an African-American. The abolitionist movement was another cause by how the fugitive slave act with additional help from the published book “Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin” which expanded the support for ending slavery nationwide. The Missouri Compromise was the cause of the Civil War because there were an amount of unbalanced states of Free and Slave. The solution of this was how Missouri became a free state, and Maine became a slave state. Until California wanted to become a free state which causes an uprising. California Passed as a free state but with one condition. They had to have the Fugitive Act which meant slaves were supposed to return to their owners. Another social issue is cotton, rice, sugar, and tobacco plantation. This is one of the social issues because it included slavery. Farm produce would trade and export, during plantation slaves would suffer physical abuse since their government allowed it. The slaves that worked in the fields lived in their unique slave house. But, the slaves never get pay of the work they do.     One political reason was that the Confederate States of America (also called South) wanted each state more sovereign than the federation or confederacy. This was demonstrated after the Confederacy was established in February 1861. Its constitution was almost an exact copy of the United States of America except for the sovereignty of state over the Confederacy. This was also demonstrated in the structure of the army of the South. Each estate had its army separate from the overall army commanded by President Jefferson Davis (for 14 months) then later on by Gen. Robert Lee (for 13 months). Another political reason is that Lincoln carefully watched his party's position; he thought that state aid for industry, protective duties, and a national bank benefited western expansion and stimulated a modernizing society.  Also according to shmoop.com His party, though, was clearly divided over the effect of slavery and its extent. Whigs, some of them wealthy southern planters, others northern exporters and manufacturers, agreed only that "liberty" came from the financial opportunities that a flourishing nation offered to average (white) citizens, not from the abolition or limitation of bondage. But UShistory.com says  Lincoln's party, however, never developed a clear response to the political crises that grew as a result of the western expansion, abolitionist agitation, and the threat of slave insurrection.Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States in 1861. Before Lincoln became the president, he was debating against Stephen. And then lost against Douglas. But, while he was debating with Douglas, he gain a national reputation which had led him to winning the Republican in the 1860.  "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." In 1864, he was re-elected to end the war. Abraham Lincoln had influenced our character by trying to fight for freedom. The cause of plantation which it makes it hard for the people that are working outdoor. “Cotton became a treasured necessity back then for people, it was an easy way to get clothing, but they needed people to harvest it for them.”The factories were the Cotton Gin; this is because the cotton gin made the job of picking seeds out of the cotton easier. Also how the population of the Cotton increased, that meant that slaves had high demand for working on the Cotton. The life of the North affected my characters by how “Slavery was less crucial to the livelihood of the industrialized North than the plantation system of the South.” Since the temperature was different from the south in the North slaves were mostly doing their work indoors. “Northern states had more temperate climates with four distinct season. For this reason, most industrial works was done indoors so as not to be disrupted by revolving weather patterns.”  African American slaves in the North was sometimes hard for them. This is because slaves that work in the field has the roughest time. “The Invention of Free Labor”(1991) states, By 1804 slavery had been abolished throughout New England, ignoring the 1800 census, which shows 1488 slaves in New England.”The reason is that the slaves that work in the field until sunset. Also, the slaves have to pick up an amount of cotton and tobacco at the end of the day. For example, a slave named Walter who lived in the North and work in the field. Walter was in charge to collect about 20 pounds of tobacco per day.” The first slaves were bought in the 1500s and over the next four years over 10 million slaves were captured in Africa.      The main economic issues of the Civil War for Susan was the cotton gin and the growth of tobacco. (The cotton gin was a device that separated the cotton from its seeds) Cotton became a precious necessity back then for people including Susan; this was because Susan was a slave for working on the cotton gin. The method was an easy way to get clothing, but people needed people to harvest it for them, in Susan's terms she had to harvest the Cotton from dawn to dusk because of the overgrowth of cotton. This made her very anxious and tired for working hard every single day and sometimes angry at her slave owner (Liam). Slavery was on the downfall until the cotton gin because they needed people such as Susan to do their work for them, so they hired more slaves. This caused Civil War because the rise in slavery made slaves and abolitionists very mad and they decided to fight back. Walter and Susan discuss how their life is. And how slaves keep coming to the North.Over 100 million pounds of tobacco cropped every year. Many slaves died because of the disease around and that slaves don't have much to eat. Susan needed money so; she could buy more food and materials to survival. In the other hand, Walter another slave worked on the field for the plantation. Walter always felt exhausted and had felt weak. Has well has other slaves around him. Because of the plantation slaves had no other ways to handle. Most of the slave have to suffer because they had to work.The Industrial Revolution had a huge effect on Walter because he got tired every single round he had to carry cotton because it used to be easy for him when he just took 10 pounds of cotton, and now he has to take up 50 pounds of cotton.  Susan was exhausted of working on making clothes, from cotton that Walter would bring for her. Making dresses, shirts, and pants all day would tire her out. And when she went home after a long day of work she would have to feed her children little to nothing at all because her slave owner would give her 10 cents per day.
